Q Can the preschooler really benefit from computer class?
A There are a series of time periods, or "learning windows," in which a child can best learn a particular ability. For example, research has shown that a child clearly can acquire a second language much easier than adults - and it's true. These windows of opportunity are effective only if we take advantage of them. Floppy's Mouse Club computer classes are effective environmental stimuli with which the child can interact.

    Q What do we teach?
A Our Floppy's Mouse Club curriculum is designed specifically to prepare your child to enter Kindergarten and First grade with computer skills at or beyond the level expected of them. Terminology, computer etiquette, mouse control, with a priority and emphasis on keyboarding skills. The Floppy's Mouse Club curriculum provides a different lesson plan each month.

Q How long are the classes?
A Classes are thirty minutes long and meet four times each month.

Q Do all children have their own workstation?
A The most effective method to relay computer skills to preschoolers is in the small workgroup, one instructor, one computer, four children per group. Each child has the opportunity to share, interact, and each child must perform all the required tasks. Every child in the workgroup adds an individual strength and collectively as a team the children progress at a pace they would not achieve working one-on-one.

Q My children use the computer at home and are quite proficient. Can they really benefit from Floppy's Mouse Club?
A Many children know how to play on the computer. Floppy's Mouse Club instructors are trained to present the proper terminology, functionally, as well as proper use and care for a computer. The feedback we receive from parents indicates that their children are more careful and respectful of the home computer after Floppy's Mouse Club classes. Floppy's Mouse Club promotes the use of the computer as a valuable tool rather than a toy.

    Q Who are the Instructors?
A Our instructor's cover a broad range of educational and experiential backgrounds, including education majors and previous daycare directors or assistant directors. Some of our instructor's are stay at home moms who like the flexible part-time hours that Mouse Club provides. The single most important quality that our instructors share is a caring and compassionate desire to work with and teach children. All Floppy's Mouse Club instructors adhere to Texas State Childcare Regulatory Commission requirements. (Background check, First Aid and CPR Certification, Minimum standard educational hours, and TB test).
