The Program

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has determined technological guidelines and requirements for preschool aged children through first grade. These guidelines set a standard of acquired education, which includes computer literacy and application. Floppy's Mouse Club not only follows and implements these standards through comprehensive classes, but goes far beyond the expectations and requirements set forth by the TEA. Floppy's Mouse Club is the proven leader in early childhood technological education.

Floppy's Mouse Club's copyrighted curriculum is specifically designed to provide lessons plans that posses a clear objective to be taught each month by each instructor. Learning a new skill each month will prepare your child to enter Kindergarten and/or first grade with computer skills above the level of expectation.

At Floppy's Mouse Club, we instruct over one thousand children each week. We know from experience that not all children have had the same exposure to technology. Some children have been worked with extensively at home while others may have had limited opportunity working on computers. The objective of Floppy's Mouse Club is to provide educational programming that will enable children to grow according to their full potential. The evaluation process is ongoing and allows Floppy's Mouse Club to continually challenge each child.

Floppy's Mouse Club offers a unique and innovative approach to early childhood computer learning. Our classes are typically facilitated by utilizing standard desktop personal computers in a small group setting.

At the beginning of each class, our teacher reviews different computer components and explains hardware and software terminology. The instructor will explain the function of each part and demonstrate its use. This is a fun and rewarding and very effective way to review and instill the “tech” vocabulary.

Repetition, repetition, repetition. Each week we review keyboarding skills on a child friendly keyboard. A fun and colorful software program is used to learn keyboarding skills that allow your child to become familiar with key location and proper hand placement. At Floppy's Mouse Club, we know that keyboarding is one of the most valuable skills to be attained and we focus intensively in this area.

Each month Floppy's Mouse Club curriculum introduces a new computer skill. These skills include tasks ranging from opening and closing programs to saving a file to disk. After a new skill is acquired, our instructors continue to incorporate these skills into their current curriculum.
